Local Launch of Colourful Comic Anthology

Fly the Colour Fantastica was a successful kickstarter campaign that allowed 12 very talented ladies to create a Comic Anthology that is a vibrant, varied and gorgeous journey through short stories. This book was launched on the afternoon of March 7th, 2015 at The Fair Food Store to excited backers and random drop-ins (hi!) alike. It was wonderfully difficult to navigate the Richmond café due to the throng of people!

I was lucky to get my copy of this beautiful hardcover book signed by 11 of the 12 creators, all of whom were very gracious to chat to a goofy nerd in a Batman tshirt at the launch of an independent title. The book contains 12 individual stories with the focus being on colour and storytelling through the visual medium of comics. Each is different and wonderful and if you are lucky enough to grab a copy it will take you through a riot of touching tales.

I’m glad I attended this launch. I found out about it via the Book of Faces only the day before and wasn’t sure if I could make it, but the pictures I saw online encouraged me to make the effort and I wasn’t disappointed, far from it. I love seeing local artists to make beautiful comics and do the things they enjoy. It reminds me that comics don’t have to only be about the big two and that there are other titles out there that I should check out. Even if I do insist on pretending to be Batman while I’m there.
