Nerdvember 2020

So, umm… it’s been a year. And now it’s November. And I want to put together some nerdy outfits!

I didn’t do Nerdvember last year because I got self conscious. It’s not my idea, being originally created by Set to Stunning, and nobody else does it, so I just… didn’t. Because I’m an introvert generally and I get self conscious easily so I let that get on top of me. Then this year happened and I’m looking to the little things in my life to bring me joy, like putting together a cool nerdy outfit.

So I’m resurrecting my little Nerdvember project, for no other reason than it brings me joy! Here’s some outfit styling that I had a lot of fun with, I hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I enjoyed putting them together.

Quest of the Green Lantern

Leading the charge is this Green Lantern interpretation that feels a little more Guy Gardner than I normally tend, but makes me feel pretty awesome to wear. It consists of a thrifted green leather bomber jacket, a scarf that was gifted to me a long time ago, and my brilliant lantern pendant necklace from Guild Jewellery.

Harlequin’s Dance

I recently received a little Harlequin symbol pin from Forge of Mimir, it’s the symbol of the Masque of the Midnight Sorrow. I absolutely love it! One day I’d love to make a Troup Master’s jacket to pin it onto, I think it could be a pretty awesome Warhammer 40K cosplay. But for now I paired it with my Harlequin legging from Wild Band-a-rang and shiny shoes. Because the Harlequins are not subtle at all..

Seeking the Cave of Wonders

So, Jafar doesn’t get to the Cave of Wonders in the end. Well, not in the way he intends to. But he does look fantastic the whole movie! Took Inspiration from the wonderfully flamboyant and impractical black and red of Jafar’s animated outfit for this one, with red for my hat, shoes and accessories, wide leg black pants, and this beautiful scarab necklace from RockLove Jewellery.

Story of the Plague Doctor

Lastly, is this Doctor Who inspired outfit that i couldn’t help calling the Plague Doctor. Sorry, not sorry. I made this tardis mask earlier this year and have been taking joy in being able to display my love for one of my favourite shows while taking steps to keep myself and those around me safe when I have occasion to leave the house. The shirt is from Jordandene of course, but I did cut the neck wider because I seem incapable of just wearing a normal tshirt… Finished the look off with a blue bomber jacket play up the blue.

Four outfits was less than I was hoping to put together, but I had a lot of fun with them all! And I managed to hit four of my favourite fandoms on the way through. Maybe I’ll make Nerdvember a little more of an event in 2021, but we’ll have to wait and see.
