Last November I challenged myself to a Nerdvember clothing challenge and wore something nerdy each day of November. I had a heap of fun but didn’t know if I wanted to do it again this year, mostly out of laziness. But I threw on some cute nerdy pins for the first day and they were so much fun to wear that I knew I was all in from that moment forwards!
So here is the start of my Nerdvember Year Two. A whole week worth of wearing nerdy things that make me happy!
Day 1 – Godzilla
During my recent trip to Japan I wandered past a Godzilla pop-up shop in Tokyo. It was full of so many fantastic statues and amazing Godzilla merch! I walked away with this set of pins featuring silhouettes of Mothra and Godzilla. Wearing them today was great fun as a colleague of mine loves Godzilla and these pins sparked geeky chats. I love being able to geek out with others and I love that these little pins helped make that happen!
Day 2 – Minnie Mouse
I love this Minnie Mouse skirt, I made it to wear to DisneyLand and it has giant pockets! It’s also super flouncy, which was a tiny problem as the second day of Nerdvember was incredibly windy. The ears I got at DisneyLand and wore them about the park. I didn’t wear the ears to work, but I suspect they may have been blown off my head had I attempted it!
Day 3 – DC Bombshells
For the third day of Nerdvember I wore my DC Bombshells jacket that I bought at the Queensland Gold Coast airport on my way home from Supanova. It came from a Movieland gift shop and I was delighted to find it there! Its actually reversible with a big picture of Harley Quinn and Wonder Woman on the other side, but I always wear it this way. I added these adorable Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy pins from Mamobot to decorate the collar.
Day 4 – The Little Mermaid
Spend most of the fourth day of Nerdvember crafting so was glad of this comfy Little Mermaid tshirt. I grabbed this just outside Mermaid Lagoon while visiting Tokyo Disney Sea. I love how colourful it is!
Day 5 – Wonder Woman
The fifth day of Nerdvember was a Monday, so I drew inspiration from Wonder Woman to give me a little extra motivation to get to work. This scarf was from a Zing store and the fantastic necklace is Guild Jewellery.
Day 6 – Timelord
I’m loving the new Doctor Who! Watched a new episode on day five so had to wear this jumper for day six of Nerdvember. It came from the Gallifrey Museum in Cardiff before it’s doors were sadly closed. I wore it over this fabulous Space Witch tshirt from Jordandene because space is cool. A nice casual nerdy outfit for a day mostly spent lounging around. Also, it is damned near impossible to take a picture of your own back! Really should have thought of that when picking this jumper, but it was kinda fun to play with the timer and see what weird poses a could pull! Didn’t end up using any of those pictures, but had a bunch of fun giving it a go.
Day 7 – Silk
This Silk cardi from Elhoffer Design is perfect for those “not quite cold enough for a proper jumper” days that we’ve been having recently. Plus Silk is the best spider person! Had to add in this perfect introverts anonymous pin from Jubly Umph too. I think Silk would approve, it might even make her laugh!
And thus concludes Nerdvember week one! I’m looking at my wardrobe like a dragon looks at it’s horde of gold and deciding which shiny thing to pull out next. My collection of geeky apparel has grown a bit since last Nerdvember, and in particular my collection of geeky pins. I’m looking forward to featuring some of my favourite pieces throughout the rest of the month. Happy Nerdvember!
This challenge is based on one created by Set to Stunning way back in 2013. I am lovingly following the path they laid down.
