The Wicked + The Divine Art Exhibition

Jamie McKelvie is an amazing artist. The expressions of his characters are pivotal in telling the stories he tells and the detail he works in is beautiful. He will be at The Thought Bubble Festival on the weekend with his The Wicked + The Divine creative partner Kieron Gillen and I am very excited to meet them both! In the meantime, there is an exhibit of Jamie’s cover art at the gallery and cafe at Munro House. I visited this today and will be visiting again after the festival is over to spend more time ogling the impressive artwork.

Munro House is a gallery, cafe and meeting place full of interesting music, and interesting people. They even served coffee that wasn’t too bad! I was able to sit on a round table surrounded by the art I had come to see sipping my long black, nibbling my flourless chocolate cake and taking in the magnificence.

The art itself was cleverly displayed on clips and string around the room and I could get up very close to have a good look at all the pieces. Mostly they were cover art from The Wicked + The Divine, but there were also pieces from Phonogram and all of it was stunning! And of course I couldn’t resist this photo with the pantheon circle placed on the wall!

Eventually I finished my coffee and cake and left the gallery, but I will be back to see these pieces again. Seeing comic cover art this large and without the title and other pieces that make up a book cover is amazing. Can’t wait to see more at the Thought Bubble Festival!
